March Musings

It feels hopeful to write this March blog because March signals that spring is around the corner. As we transition into a new season that is about rejuvenation and renewal, consider asking yourself the following questions:

  • Am I as healthy and vibrant as I want to be?
  • What gets in the way of my health and well-being?
  • What action am I prepared to take to overcome these hurdles?
  • What kind of support do I need?

I am so excited to have joined the team of health and wellness practitioners at Helix Healthcare Group in Yorkville. They have been in the news lately and were recently featured on the front page of the Financial Post. Helix Healthcare Group helps people suffering from a variety of mental health, trauma and/or addiction issues. As the first of its kind in Canada, the centre is run privately and clients are seen on an outpatient basis. The diverse team at Helix provides cutting-edge therapies, conventional treatments and holistic solutions to help people live healthier and more balanced lives. Healing services may involve a blend of meditation, yoga, massage, acupuncture, sound therapy, psychotherapy and more. At Helix I offer private therapeutic yoga sessions to clients and I also offer a public yoga class from 3:00 - 4:00 pm on Thursday afternoons.

Increasingly, I am passionate about how yoga can be used as a therapeutic tool to achieve emotional balance. Over many years of working with my own breath, body and mind (yoga), I have learned to be more present with myself, including my own discomfort and pain. I observe that my emotions continually shift and change and that I can ride out my emotions, not unlike surfing waves. I have learned that when my dear old friend ‘Anxiety’ shows up, it does not have to define me. I am much more than my emotions. Through yoga I have come to see my patterns and to consciously and compassionately interrupt them. If this sounds intriguing, take a Thursday afternoon class with me at Helix and introduce yourself to the serene, healing environment there. The yoga room is peaceful and light-filled and classes are intimate to ensure you receive lots of attention.

Visit their website, Helix Healthcare Group, for more information. Register for my Thursday 3:00 pm class by calling 416 921-CARE (2273). The introductory price is $20 + hst per class (note, prices go up on March 15th).

My teaching schedule can be found here. I also love teaching private yoga sessions. We can build a session around your needs. Please reach out if this interests you. If you wish to book a private or semi-private lesson, please contact me.

Love and light,
