My Approach to Counselling

I understand healing to be relational, holistic, and ongoing. Relational embodied healing is the term I have given to the work I do. The relationship that I cultivate with a client is paramount for me because it becomes the safe container in which to explore. Wounding happens in relationships, thus it follows that healing needs to transpire within the context of a caring and trusting relationship. Embodiment is also key for me. When I work with people, my approach seeks to go beyond mental processing, and thus engages the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of human beings. In addition to the verbal story you have about your life, I can guide you to listen to and understand how your body is communicating feelings, memories, and impulses. In my experience it often requires a variety of different approaches and techniques to facilitate change. To support you, I draw from my training in adult education, yoga, mindfulness, neuroscience, somatic and spiritual psychotherapy, and lessons learned on my own healing journey.

When we work together I will meet you exactly where you are at. You can expect that dialogue will be interspersed with experiencing. Art, photography, poetry, music, movement, breathing, and meditation can be included in sessions to deepen exploration. To become the healthiest you, it is necessary to heal old wounds and transform what is not working. I will walk with you as your guide in a manner that is warm, playful, and deeply caring. I will meet you with humility and curiosity, and I do not take lightly the courage required to slowly open to your inner world.

I am committed to ongoing development through professional education, regular clinical supervision, rest, and play.

Get Started - What to Expect

I offer holistic 60 minute counselling for individuals aged eighteen and over. If you think you might want to work with me, you may e-mail me to set up a complementary 20 minute phone consultation to determine if we are a good fit. I’m currently offering online support through a secure video conferencing platform.

If we determine we are a good fit to work together, the first session will be an intake process where I will ask you to talk about your history and background and discuss your goals for our work together. From here we will book follow-up sessions where we will explore your issues and concerns.
